The Federal Trade Commission is a consumer protection agency in the United States. Among other things, the FTC oversees fraud and false advertising in the media, including online media.

In October of 2009, the FTC passed regulations that require that bloggers and companies disclose when they receive payment, freebies or deep discounts for product or services.
