Comment Signatures

I guess this could have gone in with the blogging tips from the other day, but it really falls more into the blogging etiquette category:

When you are leaving a comment on somebody else's blog, it is perfectly acceptable to link to your blog or site in the space provided for that purpose. Your name will then hyperlink and people will be able to click out to check out your blog. It is not okay, however, to leave an entire email-esque signature at the bottom of your comment. At that point people know that you are not commenting to contribute to the conversation, but rather as an attempt to direct more traffic to your own site.

For example, this is what not to do when you comment:

Cute! Blah Blah Blah

Liene Stevens
The Smart Planner
www.TheSmartPlanner.com
--

This is what you should do:

--
The Smart Planner said:

Cute! Blah Blah Blah

--

As I mentioned, you won't have to format any of the code for your site to link, because your name will automatically link if you enter your site's info into the website field.
