I had the opportunity to finally meet Rebecca Grinnals of Engaging Concepts in person this past week at Engage!08. (I'll share more about my experience there once some others blog about it and I can steal their pictures. :) True to Liene form, I forgot to bring a camera along.) Rebecca is truly a genius and so inspiring. Here is a quote from her to motivate you towards pushing the envelope in your own professional and personal life:
"I love the quote 'Luck is where preparation meets opportunity'. We can't sit around and hope to get lucky. We have to plan to make remarkable things happen in our lives. We make our own luck.
Life is full of choices - hundreds of small choices each day plus a few big, life-altering decisions. I made the choice to go after my dreams and not wait for success to be handed to me. I chose to make my own destiny."
- Rebecca Grinnals, co-founder of Disney's Fairytale Weddings and Honeymoons and founder and president of Engaging Concepts.

Whether you need to increase sales revenue, extend your brand presence through free publicity, or land a book deal or television contract, we are experts at developing social media strategies that help you achieve your business goals.
We believe that social media is a return to old-fashioned roots of real conversations rather than a high-tech race to keep up with the next big thing. While the tools will always evolve, the need for businesses to communicate effectively and deepen relationships with their customers will remain.

I needed that this morning! thanks!
Great post! This reminds me of my favorite Art Linkletter quote.
Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out.
Right on!
Liene! Thank you so much for the kind words!! :) We LOVED having you be a part of engage!08 last week and so enjoyed our conversations leading up the day as well as the time spent together here in Celebration.
I share with you a comment from an attendee regarding you: "Liene was a stellar example of how a blog can impact a small business owner. Great speaker!"
We so appreciate you adding so much to our first symposium and look forward to watching both The Smart Planner and Blue Orchid Designs continue to enjoy 'brilliant' [wink!] successes!
Can't wait until our paths cross again soon!
Great Motivational Monday spot Liene!
And congratulations to you, Rebecca & everyone that made Engage08 so successful. I hope to be part of the next one (I'm sure there will be a next one!)
I have another quote to add here in the same vein. It was actually the one I selected for my highschool Senior yearbook.
From the musical "Pippin" and the song "War is a Science"...
"It's a simple rule that every great man knows by heart. It's smarter to be lucky, than it's lucky to be smart!":)

The first time I heard the quote "Luck is..." I wrote it down and pasted it on my kitchen fridge! That was years ago, and it remains one of the few quotes that I've committed to memory and often repeat (especially to my daughter). That quote has helped me to stay focused on my goals and serves as a constant reminder of the importance of 'putting in the work'. It was cool to hear Rebecca say those words at engage!08... E.
Hi Liene, great post! Definitely needed to read that this afternoon. I am so bummed that I missed Engage08! Please keep me in the loop on next year's event.
