How did you get started in wedding planning?
About six or seven years ago, my friend and coworker told me she was getting married. She asked if I wanted to be a bridesmaid or help her coordinate the wedding. Considering the fact that there were 30 people in the wedding party, I knew she would need help coordinating and organizing the masses, so I picked that option. We are both glad I did. Later, I decided to try my hand at some classes. I completed the Wedding Planning and Consulting certification program at Temple University. I joined a few associations and away I flew.
If you had to start over what one thing would you do differently?
I would take more time building the framework for my business before hanging out my "Open for Business" sign.
What's your favorite item in your emergency kit?
What is the best piece of business advice you've ever received?
I have been so blessed to have several industry professionals looking out for me. The best advice I have received so far has been to set quarterly financial goals that double each quarter. Then break those quarterly goals into monthly goals to make them much more attainable.
What two people (past or present) would you have as guests at a dinner party and why?
It is so hard to pick just two. I would invite Diahann Carroll, because of her classy elegance, and Kimora Lee Simmons, because she is a "mommy mogul". I'd love to chat with these women about their careers and hurdles.
What are your three favorite blogs besides thesmartplanner.com?
