On Honoring Your Own SuccessThursday, January 05, 2012
I have a ritual that I've followed since the very early days of my business: whenever I book a new client, I buy a bottle of wine.
It doesn't have to be a fancy bottle (in fact, it's usually not), but taking the time to do this helps me celebrate the stepping stones that make up the journey to larger milestones. If I could go back in time and change one thing about this ritual, it would be to buy two bottles -- one to drink and one to add to a wine collection. That way I'd have a fun reminder of the different people I've worked with over the years.
I'd encourage you to come up with your own ritual for celebrating both small and large successes. It doesn't have to be wine and it doesn't have to occur with each new client you sign: your ritual is yours and it can look however you want it to. The important part is that you slow down and honor your success more often and more deliberately.
