Evaluating Advice

There's no shortage of advice in this world: on blogs, in books, from friends, from strangers, solicited, unsolicited. Some of it is wise and fruitful and some of it is well-intentioned but way off the mark.

When evaluating advice you receive, ask yourself, "If I heard of someone else doing this, would I be okay with it?"

Slippery slopes are called slippery for a reason. Reframing a situation with the question above brings instant perspective, adds new talking points and allows you to think through things a bit more objectively.
