A handful of splendid finds from around the worldwide web:

*Media and sports writer John Koblin has been hired by the New York Times as their new Styles reporter. You can follow him on Twitter at @koblin. [Women's Wear Daily]

*Xochitl Gonzalez of AaB Creates launched "Art, for Cocktails: Art Appreciation Without Pretension" this past week, an initiative that makes art more accessible, engaging and fun to talk about. The project will also include Museum Tours Without Pretension and a foundation that funds museum trips for kids in the New York City public school system. You can follow Art for Cocktails on Twitter and Instagram.

*Acumen and The Ariel Group have teamed up to offer a free course called Storytelling for Change aimed at helping leaders, speakers and entrepreneurs become more effective communicators. The course runs January 15th - February 26th.

*Teams in the Orange Bowl don't make any money, and other lies. [Deadspin]

Noteworthy from The Splendid Collective:

*The Washington Post interviewed me for this article on WeddingWire.

*Next Wednesday, January 15th is the deadline for sharing the Splendid Insights survey in order to receive a free copy of the general report.
