How did you get started in the wedding industry?
We got started in the wedding industry by accident. Whitney Houston was our graphic design client, and she recommended a friend to us for his wedding invitations. His name was Eddie Murphy.
How has the industry changed since you started?
When we started in the industry, nothing was on line. All vendors were accessed out of the phone book. There was no industry, it was just a list of names for people who provided various services.
What was the biggest lesson you learned early on in your business?
The biggest lesson that I learned was never to piss anyone off. The assistant at a PR firm, for example, could go on to become head of PR at a luxury brand.
What was the biggest lesson you've learned in the past few years?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned in the last few years is that brides no longer get their information through print media. Everything is online, so we have had to learn how to reach out to prospective brides differently.
What one piece of advice would you give to another entrepreneur on sticking it out in a competitive industry?
The best advice that I can give, is that people do business with other people. So network as much as possible. In person relationships are much stronger than online relationships
