The people who can do the most for you, bring you new clients and help your business grow typically show up when you least expect it. They also tend to be the opposite of who you expect.
Beware the pitfall of equating industry "fame" or slick marketing with success. Many of the most legitimately successful people in the industry fly more or less under the radar.
