In Defense of Inspirational Quotes

Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Inspirational quotes get a bad rap. These days it's as popular to hate on them as it is to hate on Coldplay.

Liking inspirational quotes means you're not above learning from the hard-earned wisdom of others. It means that you're willing to listen to other perspectives.
It means that you're willing to admit you don't have all the answers.

If someone's life is so together that they can't be bothered to learn things from others, then they and I probably don't have much in common.

Cynicism is easy, but it's toxic. It kills growth and prevents people from living a full, joyous life.
