SITUATION

A boutique resort in South America wanted to position itself as the ultra-luxe destination wedding getaway for affluent jetsetters from the US and Europe.

  • We created a brand new wedding sales program from the ground up, incorporating our deep expertise on the destination wedding market and our proprietary insights on the consumer behavior of millennials as engaged couples, travelers, and foodies. 
     
  • We collaborated with the resort's Agency of Record to provide insight on wedding trends as well as art direction for marketing photo shoots and wedding marketing collateral.
     
  • We designed a FAM trip for a select group of luxury wedding planners who "fly under the radar" – reinforcing the resort's overall strategic positioning as a "best kept secret" among the affluent. As a result, 70% of the planners booked the resort for their destination wedding clients in the following 18 months.

How do you tell a bride that her wedding photos are gone forever?

SITUATION

A high-end photographer came to us after they lost all the digital files for several unedited weddings when both their computer and backup hard-drives failed.

SPLENDID SOLUTIOns

  • The photographer created albums for each client and their families using stills edited from raw videography footage. They also offered lifestyle photos for upcoming family events and holidays at no charge. All of this, along with a full refund, was presented to each client when they broke the news of the lost photos. One of the couples referred several of their newly engaged friends to the photographer over the next several months.
     
  • We worked with the photographer to identify specific friends and family members of the affected couples who would potentially react in a publicly negative way. Using their social media profiles to identify their "drama style" patterns, we developed additional contingency plans that addressed how to deal with each of these people should the need arise.
     
  • We developed strategies for minimizing industry gossip in order to preserve the photographer's reputation and to protect against a potential drop in referrals from local wedding planners and venues.

SITUATION

An international hotel group needed to improve its underperforming wedding sales program and create a cohesive brand experience across its multiple luxury properties. 

SPLENDID SOLUTIONS

  • We redeveloped all of the sales and marketing strategies for wedding events, replacing outdated strategies with ones that take into account how today's engaged couples actually buy. We also wrote a new operations manual for the wedding program, including food and beverage sales, reservations, event coordination, third-party supplier and vendor relations, safety procedures, etc.
     
  • We developed customized wedding programming and marketing for 80+ individual properties that met overall brand standards but also took unique cultural practices into account for each hotel location as well as those of their respective geographical target markets. This empowered each catering department to sell the unique features of their wedding options and effectively position themselves against the cookie-cutter programming of their competitors.
     
  • We provided wedding trend insight in relation to the event supply inventory (tableware, linens, seating, ceremony and reception decor props, etc) in order to improve add-on sales and maximize profit. We also created vendor and supplier referral guidelines to ensure any collaborations with offsite wedding professionals would meet the hotel brand's standards of excellence.
