You may have read celebrity event designer Jes Gordon’s pandemic story in the Wall Street Journal, but to quickly catch you up, she realized that spending $125,000 a month on overhead for her company was no longer feasible when zero event business was coming in.

She packed up shop in Manhattan and, at age 50, moved in with her mom in upstate New York.

In this first episode of Splendid Conversations, Jes and I talk about her decision to move (and the privilege in being able to do so), as well as Instagram versus reality, her future plans, and why we both hate the phrase, “stay in your lane.”

You can watch my conversation with Jes here.

How do you celebrate 15 years in business when you can’t throw a party? You launch a YouTube channel.

I'm sitting down with wedding industry leaders from eight countries to discuss the realities of owning an event business in 2020. These Splendid Conversations are honest, candid, and authentically optimistic.
